YNHH contributes $2 million to New Haven Promise

Reflecting its strong commitment to the New Haven community and support of education, Yale-New Haven Hospital will contribute $2 million to New Haven Promise, the new college scholarship and support program for the city's public school students. My Hometown: My Hospital

My Hometown, My Hospital

More than 2,000 employees who work at Yale-New Haven Hospital experience local pride twice – at work and at home. One of every four employees who works at Yale-New Haven Hospital lives in the Elm City. To them, Yale-New Haven is not only a great hospital, it's a great employer in a great hometown. They value the hospital's compensation and benefits pro-gram, but even more than that, they love the sense of family and the spirit of community. YNHH helps keep the economy of New Haven healthy, while it keeps New Haven citizens healthy. YNHH offers the best of both worlds – while it is one of the country's top hospitals, it has the feel of a community hospital. No wonder so many Yale-New Haven employees love where they work and work where they live.

Employees coach New Haven students in mock trial

For the past five years, employees from the hospital's YNHH's Legal and Risk Services department have worked with students from New Haven's John C. Daniels School to stage a mock trial. The would-be lawyers, defendants and plaintiffs argue fictional cases before a superior court judge at the New Haven Federal District Court.

YNHH volunteers work with the students over the course of several weeks coaching them for their courtroom roles that also includes witnesses, bailiffs, court clerks and jurors. YNHH has had a partnership with the Daniels school since for several years which includes reading and mentoring programs and special projects.
